Book Reviews of Enslaved by Ducks

Book Review: Buy this books!
Summary: 5 Stars

Wonderful, humorous, heart-wrenching - I've added it to my personal top 10 list. Even non animal-lovers will enjoy this.

Book Review: DO YOU LOVE ANIMALS?
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is an important addition to a petbook library. Bob Tarte and his wife Linda acquire and humanely care for: ducks, geese, rabbits, parakeets, doves, turkeys and two "regular" cats. Chapter by chapter he humorously introduces each new pet and how he and his wife relate to each animal and how they experience the animal relates to them. Bob Tarte vividly describes his pets' antics as well as giving us scientific information that he and his wife have researched about each species. This gives the book a feeling of a "shared experience" between writer and reader. In addition, Bob Tarte manages to convey the seriousness of the unexpected heartbreaks, backbreaking work and expenses involved in taking on the responsibilities of saving and caring for their animals... especially ones that must learn to coexist, in what is for them, an unnatural environment. Linda and Bob's commitment to their "pet menagerie" is a must read for anyone who is considering taking on the responsibility of animal rescue or unusual pet(s) and of course for anyone who plainly loves animals!

Book Review: Sheer Joy to read
Summary: 5 Stars

Very few books get me laughing out loud but this is absolutely ONE of them! My household includes two cats, three kittens, a huge husky, a tiny bird, and two ferrets so the logistics of caring for a wacky menagerie are not lost to me! The personalities that drive one the craziest are often the ones we miss the most when they are gone. Aside from the hilarity, it's so wonderful to know that others have the depth that Bob Tarte does, to appreciate the importance of all creatures, great and small. It makes me feel far less alone in this beautiful but formidable world! Thank you, Bob, for making this book a sheer joy to read!

Book Review: Loved this Book --Hilarious
Summary: 5 Stars

Bob Tarte's story of how a he came to care for bunnies, parrots, ducks, starlings and other animals is hilarious, absorbing and entertaining. I laughed out loud when reading how his African Grey parrot blocks his path to the bathroom by threatening to chomp on his toes, or how Bob tore out the walls to reach his bunny. I came to care for his animals and to know them as individuals, like the brave duck, Peggy, and the ailing goose he nurses back to health.

Even if you're not a "pet-person" you'll enjoy this book. It's funny and well-written and offers a peak into what life is like for a big-hearted couple who are willing to shake up their lives for their pets.

Book Review: A Comic Triumph
Summary: 5 Stars

A wise, self-effacing, and side-splittingly funny account of the evolution of an ordinary household into a raucous petting zoo cum animal rescue operation. Densely populated with an hilarious cast of local eccentrics, both human and avian. An accomplished stylist, Bob Tarte has a keen ear for dialog and a rare comic gift. I?d unreservedly recommend this book to anyone. A great Christmas gift.
