Book Reviews of EntertainingBook Review: A dreadful book by a dreadful woman Summary: 1 Stars
I used this book for a lavish party at my home and the results were terrible. Save your money!
Book Review: Christmas "Downunder" goes all out with Martha this year Summary: 4 Stars
My sister and I made a pact that this year was going to see 'Summer on the deck" this Christmas was done in style. A chance encounter of a lifestyle show celebrating the anniversary of this marvellous book on TV paved the way for us to embark on a "mission" to "Entertain as never before". The recipes, suggestions of menus and the details provided to create an atmosphere of celebration are incredible, sensible and motivating. Even though the weather will be toasty and warm during this holiday season in December, the options provided in this book will transform our day.
Book Review: Don't make these recipes: Summary: 3 Stars
Pg 46 Roquefort Grapes: messy & time consuming. Grapes stuffed with cheese is a bad combination.Pg 52 Phyllo Triangles: Very Greasy and time consuming, especially if you expect to serve it warm to waiting guests. Pg 59 Baked New Potatoes: Cannot pick up garnishes with potatoes, even if cut up. Messy & ugly. Pg 196 Pumpkin Molasses Pie: Tastes bad. Pg 244 Pecan Pie: Never cooked, all sugar, awful. 5 stars for photography, 1 star for recipes.
Book Review: Gotta have it! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a must for entertaining ideas and recipes. It covers a wide variety of occasions and is very comprehensive. It's still timely and relevant.
Book Review: Inspiration for bored homemakers Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a staple in my kitchen. Do I cook all the upscale, gourmet recipes? I'd love to say yes, but in all honesty I haven't the time! I *have* tried the sugar cookies, and they went over well with my three little boys! The reason I love this book is that I can read a bit, look at the lovely pictures, and gain fresh inspiration to make my little home a lovelier place. Also, for any Martha-phile, this book is a good place to peek inside Martha's life and hear her thoughts for more than just a five minute segment on her show.
