Book Reviews of EscapeBook Review: A must read! Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the best books I have read. I read it in two days. I want to share it with every woman I know. It is an eye opener and makes you appreciate your own values, morals and beliefs and the life you have. I read this while pregnant myself and I was brought to tears over the cruelty to the FLDS children. I strongly encourage you to read it even if you check it out at the library. You won't be sorry.
Book Review: A must read!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I could not put this book down once I started reading it. I first saw Ms. Jessop on Bill O'Reilly and after listening to her I just had to read the book. I find it so hard to believe this type of thing is going on in America.
She is such a brave and caring woman I wish her a lot of luck and hope her daughter will return to her.
Book Review: A must-read Summary: 5 Stars
"Escape" is a must-read for students of Fundamentalist Mormonsim as well as those who simply enjoy a fascinating story. But, be warned, once you pick up this book you will not be able to put it down until you have finished it. "Escape" is more intriguing than a first-rate novel, but you cannot make this stuff up. Carolyn Jessop's life story is one of the saddest, sickest, twisted situations one might imagine for a woman trapped in Taliban-controlled Afgahnistan. But Carolyn is a modern-day American, and there are thousands more of her still trapped right beneath our noses. Carolyn and her children are among the lucky ones who escaped to tell their story. All Americans need to be aware of the gross reality of Fundamentalist Mormon Polygamy and put an end to it. You can start by reading this book.
Book Review: A must-read. Summary: 5 Stars
This book explained a lot about the FLDS sect. It was overwhelming to discover how much is going on in this country that is hidden. When Carolyn Jessup made her couragerous escape with her eight children (one severely disabled) and the monumental obstacles she overcame to keep her children safe, I was left with the feeling that she apparently had been so indoctrinated in her faith that there is a sense that she still has some residual guilt feelings. It is an amazing story.
Book Review: A read for the strong only Summary: 4 Stars
Although this is a very compelling story and well written memoir, I have had difficulty finishing it. As a women and a mother, I found myself too weak to continue reading some of the very disturbing moments of ms.jeesup's life. It is very fasinating, and like other posts have stated 'hard to believe this is happening in america'. So, if you are stronger then I, it is a must read. I'm hoping to gain my compsure and to pick up where i left off.
