Book Review: A must read for all fans of Spidey

The powerful, yet humble Peter Parker is a boy genius yet his powers are a form of torment. His beloved Aunt May is a fragile creature, vulnerable to any super villain, so he must keep his alter ego of Spider-Man a secret from the world. Parker must also take great care to keep from demonstrating his powers so he must keep his adolescent emotions in check. Finally, he must deal with the loudmouthed J. Jonah Jameson, his boss for his work as a free-lance photographer.
The creation of this environment was a stroke of genius on the part of Stan Lee and the other members of the Marvel bullpen. Parker's difficulties are those that most teenagers and adults can relate to, for the teenager, having to suffer through teasing and even bullying by their stronger and more popular classmates. Working adults can relate to the obnoxious boss, where the circumstances of having people they must provide for forces them to have to tolerate the nonsense in silence.
This book contains the first twenty issues of the Spider-Man comic and not only do they set the environment for the hero character, they also establish the secondary characters in Peter's life and the main villains that Spider-Man faces. Full of teen angst, Spider-Man almost becomes the first super hero to place himself under the care of a psychiatrist.
The dialog is a bit corny yet chirpy as Spider-Man proves himself capable of witty repartee while the villains speak in "evil doer" clichés.
One of the most popular comic book characters ever created, Spider-Man is now a classic hero, one of the first to be portrayed as having a vulnerable side, beset by self-doubts despite his enormous powers. This book is a must for all fans of Spidey.
