Book Review: Could've been so much better...

I saw the front of this book and I thought:
Hmmm... I like Estevan Oriol's work.
Hmmm... I like beautiful women.
Hmmm... I like high quality photography.
... I'll get it!
And yet, I'm not satisfied.
Oriol explains in the foreword that this is a mix of photos he's taken on shoots as well as just walking around L.A., and I understand that he's trying to celebrate L.A. women (you know, the title of the book). But when you go through it, the effect is actually kind of weird -- oh, here's Kim Kardashian (twice). Oh, here's an LAPD policewoman who's not really that beautiful. Oh, here's Kat Von D. Oh, here's a girl with a shotgun. Oh, here's an import model.
To me, if you're going to focus on women, then focus just on celebrities. Or focus just on gangster girls. Or focus just on girl-next-door beauties. Or, if you really want to, do all 3 and make the book enormous. But doing all 3 in a 100-125 photo book just doesn't leave enough room for everything.
There are beautiful girls, and beautifully composed photos, but this could have been so much better...
