Book Review: You can NOT defeat evil with evil
Summary: 4 Stars
Even though the video is short to deal with the subject at hand, the basic premise is sustained. Evil can not be defeated by evil, and Christians should know better. Unless this is universally realized in the Church, anti-Christians will have room for criticism [well, they will criticize whatever position Christianity will take, anyways], but at least this attitude would gain more respect for the culture and society, and furthermore would show consistency with what is taught in the New Testament [at least as I see it]. I realize that this thesis is not the most popular nowadays, but nonetheless considering the state of the Church (for example look here The Scandal of the Evangelical Conscience, Why Are Christians Living Just Like the Rest of the World? ) why be surprised that Church failing on this issue too?
Anyways, while I think there were some good practical examples, mostly from Africa, many more could be gathered all around the world. For real stories how this practical principle work you can read something like Jesus Freaks: Stories of Those Who Stood for Jesus, the Ultimate Jesus Freaks.
I wish this video would be longer. It is rather short, and it is hard to appreciate the seriousness and the breadth of the issue with one hour video.
I also happen to have Evil And the Justice of God on my shelf, but I haven't gotten to it yet. When I'll read it, I will compare it to this video. I think the book and the video should work fine together, and what is omitted here, should be elaborated there.
