Inveiglements include numerous illustrations including flora & fauna sketches, B & W & occasional color photos, lineage schemata plus original illustrations by Carl Buell. 10 1/4" x 7 1/4".
Author Prothero, Prof. of Geology at Occidental College & lecturer at CIT, Pasadena, is a well-published and active paleontologist who has given us an up-to-date easily readable and profusely illustrated treatise on evolution. What sets this work apart from most others is the great length to which the author goes in decrying, exposing and debating those people (Intelligent Design Creationists, etc.) who oppose teaching of Evolution in the schools and who harass, intimidate and try to suppress teaching of science using diverse political ploys that maintain the universe is, per Scripture, but 6,000 years old.
It is nothing short of amazing how various evolutionary changes have become incorporated into Life's many creatures over some billions of years, all having left fossiliferous evidences largely on a world-wide scale, and always on a predictable time line using the earth as clock. An interesting chapter on "primordial soup" is provided.
