Book Reviews of Experience Yoga Nidra: Guided deep relaxationBook Review: Great relaxation tape Summary: 5 StarsI especially liked the focusing on the chakras during the relaxation sequence.
Book Review: I THINK it works. But what am I supposed to feel? Summary: 4 StarsI knew zero about yoga. I got this CD as an expirement to see if I could use it as a way to relax and bring down my blood pressure. Did it work? Let's find out.
The CD contains 3 tracks. The first is a short version of the relaxation excercise the middle track is a music track and the last is the long 45 minute Deep relaxation track.
I have read that the purpose of Yoga Nidra is to achieve a deep state of mental sleep while still being concious (awake). They even say this on the CD. I have attempted to do the deep relaxation track a total of 4 times now, and can not stay awake to the end. I think this last time I actually made it to about the 30 minute mark but man its hard to stay awake durring this thing. Anytime you close your eyes and relax for that length of time, you are going to fall asleep. Its almost inavoidable. I'll keep trying it, but it is VERY difficult to stay awake.
And when I do wake up, I dont feel any different then if I had just taken a little nap. I'm a little [...] and groggy until I fully awaken. Some people claim that when you come out of it you feel full of energy and feel like you have slept for hours. I cant say I'm at that place yet.
How about the blood pressure? Well before my CD arrived I noticed that my BP would drop a little bit after I awoke from a short nap. On the naps where I have fallen asleep listening to Yoga, I have noticed a SLIGHTLY larger drop in my BP when I awoke. I have not really done enough experimentation to say that this is 100% for sure what is causing the drop but there is starting evidence there.
I do like and recommend this CD. If nothing else it is mental strength training. Think of it as a game. See if you can beat the CD and stay awake through the track.
Bottom line, I think Yoga is a little hoakey, and a bit out there and 95% in a persons mind. But it's always fun to try new things that have the posibility of producing beneficial results.
Book Review: Yoga Nidra: Guided deep relaxation Summary: 5 StarsThis CD has done wonders for my sleeping! So much so I am afraid to try it during the day for simple meditation. I normally have a hard time falling asleep, then wake 3 or 4 times in the course of one night. Since using the Yoga Nidra, I fall asleep before the 20 minute session is up, and don't wake until the morning feeling totally refreshed and full of energy!
Book Review: it does what it says it will Summary: 5 StarsI am doing a whole body healing from an attack of a virus. This CD does just what it says it does, relax and energize at the same time. I combine it with the Auveydic morning routine and I am reaping good results.
Book Review: Relaxing and Calming Effect Summary: 5 StarsA great product, which I found amazing because a few simple instructions had such a relaxing and positive effect on me. It is definitely worth a try for anyone who needs to relax and recharge their batteries, thereby directing their positive energies to take advantage of their own resources.
It is a great do-at-anytime-of-the-day exercise and allows your body and mind to co-exist and maintain a balance. The instructor's rhythmic voice is very soothing and the sound effects in the CD enhance the instructions in a balanced and harmonious way. Some of the techniques in the `Nidras' are so relaxing that you might fall asleep for a short while, after which you wake up feeling calm, focused and fresh. The CD can be a good stress-buster if the instructions are followed and can be used by anyone on the lookout for a means of relaxation that actually works!
