Book Review: A good starting point

The beginning of the book contains an expanse of discussion on the issue of noetic structure which has both direct and indirect pedagogical purposes. Directly it raises the issue that the philosophical position one holds is in relation to this transcendental noetic structure which can serve as either a hindrance or a help to discovering new truths. Indirectly, I believe he is coaxing the reader into a mindset which allows for the abrogation of inveterated ideals which may not hold up to logical scrutiny. In other words, Nash begins the book with a discussion on noetic structure because, indirectly I believe, he hopes to influence the reader to be more amicable to changing his/her noetic structure as a reaction to reading the book.

When one reads philosophy in general, it is asinine for the reader to do so with a rigid and dogmatic mentality, for the purpose of philosophy is to further the cogency of reason, and to disallow such mental activity could be likened as mental bulimia.
