Book Review: "Fasting" by Jentezen Franklin
Summary: 5 Stars
I just finished reading a good 237 page book entitled, "Fasting" by Pastor Jentezen Franklin. This little volume by a man of God that knows the discipline of fasting and its power to change lives is welcomed volume on the topic.
I really enjoyed this book for several reasons.
1.) The book is by a man that believes in the power of fasting and practices what he writes. Every year the church that he pastors enters each new year with a 21 day fast. Also, when he was younger, he would practice this discipline. So its words are from a man that is genuine in his desire to communicate this "door to a deeper, more intimate, more powerful relationship with God."
2.) The book challenges and encourages you that fasting is well worth it! Its not as hard as it sounds and covers several different ways in which you can fast. Its full of encouragement from the Word of God for fasting and to see its full benefits. All 17 chapters start with a Bible passage and the chapter is full of Biblical instruction. In many of the chapters, he records testimonies from people that have written about what God did for, in, with and through them as a result of them fasting.
I highly recommend this book. I hope and pray that its message challenges us to fast for a deeper relationship with God.
