Some thrillers begin quietly, and some grab you on the first page. This is one of the quiet-starters. It begins in domestic tranquility as Tim Blake, a recently-divorced car salesman makes breakfast for his seventeen year-old daughter, Sydney. She has a part-time job at the Just Inn Time hotel, while Tim is immersed in selling cars and making nasty comments about his ex-wife's boyfriend. Then, one night, Sydney doesn't come home. When Tim inquires about her at the Just Inn Time, the staff insists that they have never heard of her. As days pass without a sign of Sydney, Tim becomes increasingly upset. He is not the brightest light on the tree, and he tends toward confrontation with anyone who might have known Sydney. The fuss he creates becomes a problem, and he is suddenly a target for people who want him dead. When they frame him for murder, he is forced to run from the police as well as from killers, and things get ever-more intense until the story's climax. If you like thrillers, the story flows nicely and is worth reading.
