Book Review: AN amazing first novel

It is a dark time for the red deer. Drail is old and frail, not what the herd needs for a leader, but through Sgorr, his cunning second-in-command, he has secured his place as leader. Almost. The Outriders have been protecting the herd for ages and are the only thing between Drail and ultimate rule of the herd.
But there is a prophecy, and it is about to be fulfilled. This book is both amazing and exciting! The deer are believable as their characters and only take on human speach, unlike the Warrior series. The deer are deer with a voice that we can understand. Their fears and actions are true to their nature. Often in books about animals, the author will incorporate so much human personality into the animals, it is simply a man with a different skin. But David Clement-Davies walked the balance between the two worlds and brought back a remarkable tale.
Full of twists and turns, this book hardly gets dull. And I just had to find out Sgorr's secret. The stort is filled with unforgetable characters and an ending that no one could have expected.
Fire Bringer is a tale of courage and sacrifice, of danger and twists. For a first novel, this is amazing in detail and pacing. If only such books were more recognized...
