Book Review: "Sweet Home" North Carolina....

Firefly Rain is the engaging story of a prodigal son who, after the death of his parents, returns to the small North Carolina town where he grew up. "Sweet home" North Carolina? Ha! Not exactly.
Jacob Logan, the story's main character, thinks he's returning to his childhood home for a brief rest from big-city life, to regroup after his business in Boston went down the tubes, and to make peace with himself--but the family house in Maryfield, the town itself, and even the fireflies all have other ideas. Closure isn't always so easy to attain, and restless memories can haunt us all. Logan found out that still waters do indeed run deep, and eventually we have to face what lives there.
Richard Dansky unspools a marvelous, moody atmosphere that lives and breathes in its own right, and the pace of the story carries the reader shivering along with Logan as he's confronted by all of his demons--and some that aren't his own.
This story is well-crafted and has just the right amount of humor amid a backdrop of frightening, life-changing events. Wonder how a good story can contain both? Pick this book up and read it.
