Book Reviews of Five against OneBook Review: A JOB WELL DONE ABOUT A GREAT BAND Summary: 5 Stars
This is the only book available to date that I reccommend any Pearl Jam fan to buy. From the newest fan to the die-hard fan, this book will tell you things you didn't ever think happened. A excellent view on the ever-lasting fued between Ed and Dave makes the book worthwhile. Also, it makes it even better since the writer actually spent time with the band and had a first had view of the situation.
Book Review: A book by a jealous woman Summary: 1 Stars
I think it's obvious that this whole bitter book is driven by Kim Neely's unrequited love for Eddie Vedder. Notice how she has nothing but bad things to say about his wife. Get over yourself Kim! We all love Eddie, but there's only one of him and he's taken already.
Book Review: A definite must have for any pearl jam fan Summary: 5 Stars
I first found it anti-vedder but while I kept on reading I just got to realize it was well based on facts with no intention of getting worse. It's interesting that while it demolished my perceptions and the perfect image I had about Pearl Jam the book has empowered my interest about the band and boosted my fanatism well beyond expected. I realized that this band isn't anything of what I believed. I carried lots of misbeliefs that this book washes away in style.
The section about Eddie vedder's life was incredible. I found it kind of boring at the beggining but before it was finished it became my favorite.
Book Review: A good, solidly well written book. Summary: 4 Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Kim Kneely wrote a book that is insightful, and she maintains an objective distance. She does not pander to the band, is not fawning but also does not overlook a lot of the good things about the band. She tries to maintain an even-handed approach to the subject and I think she succeeds. My only mild complaint is the couple of chapters that deal only with Vedder. While he is the basic focal point of the band and therefore it was neccessary to write about him I thought it detracted from the rest of the band and the flow of the book seemed to stop when the book came to these chapters. The No Code era also seemed a little rushed. Some of the principle people were not interviewed, but she did a fine job of putting together what she did have to form a coherent story of the band. Recommended reading.
Book Review: A great book for every Pearl Jam fan! Summary: 5 Stars
This book offers heaps of information about what really goes on in the band and alot of history aswell A very interesting read!
