Book Reviews of Fixing Your Feet: Prevention and Treatments for Athletes

Book Review: Comprehensive Foot Bible
Summary: 5 Stars

A must for excessive runners! Every type of foot care is covered in detail. I especially appreciated the sections on how to tape your feet in order to prevent blisters. Many different methods and materials are rated with all the pros and cons. Different ultra runners share their secrets in foot care. Loved it!

Book Review: Don't Step out the Door before Reading Vonhof's Book!
Summary: 5 Stars

I like the fact the Vonhof provides us with not only his expertise--from his years of running and fastpacking, and his 25 years of treating other people's feet--but also with advice from other athletes with varied backgrounds. The reality is that people have different kinds of feet (low volume, high arches, pronating, etc.), that each individual's feet change over time, footwear differs, and that trail and weather conditions vary. That means that preventing and treating foot problems is a complex issue. Vonhof wisely gives us information about the factors that affect our foot health and also tons of alternative ways to keep our feet happy.

I have been a backpacker and long-distance hiker for many years. I used to simply treat blisters after the fact. Now I employ some of the methods Vonhof's suggests--such as taping and gel-filled bandages--and prevent most blisters. I consider my copy of his Fixing Your Feet to be a valuable resource. Don't step out the door before reading Vonhof's book!

Book Review: Don't Take Your Feet for Granted
Summary: 5 Stars

This advice is sure to get all athletes off on the right foot. Learn how to care for any foot problem and prepare your feet for that upcoming race.

Book Review: Excellent Book
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a walker and don't have nearly the foot problems that people doing longer distances, carrying backpacks, or running sometimes do, but this book has been so helpful to me. For the first time in my life, I actually know how to buy shoes that fit (beyond them feeling comfortable at the store). I have good current information on how to prevent and treat blisters and calluses, and have learned new ways to lace shoes that help them fit and feel better. I also understand now why my feet have gotten bigger as I walk more. I wish I had found this book years ago. Oh well, better now than later!

Book Review: Feet
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the most comprehensive book I have ever read on runner's feet. It covers every eventuality. What I also enjoy is the actual methods used by real runners. The more one reads of actual situations, the more one learns.
