Book Review: For the Love of Audrey Rose
Summary: 3 Stars
Going against type, I enjoyed this book much more than its predecessor. Since I read it immediately following Audrey Rose, I knew some of what to expect, and was not disappointed. Of course DeFelitta sold Elliot out and had him be wrong about how reincarnation worked - otherwise there would have been no need for a second book. I still don't see how others can call Elliot a moral man, seeing as how he destroyed a family due to his selfish whims. What was amazing was that Janice so easily succumbed to this need to have Eliot Hoover in their lives after all that he had done to them. It seemed that since DeFelitta gave her a job, he also had to liberate her morals in staying true to Bill.
Bill, what can you say about a character driven mad by his searching for a way to atone for a tragic event that was not his fault? The absurd thing was that the doctors and orderlies at each of the facilities that he was staying at did not take further notice of just what he was reading, especially since they knew of his fragile grip on sanity.
Overall, I just read this book as a farce, a redo for a hideous first novel that also made little to no sense. And in the end, who had Audrey Rose really possessed? Ivy? Elliot? Janice? Bill? Or the two new characters that DeFelitta wants us to believe have been reborn as A.R. in a new life.
