Book Reviews of Forever Young: My Friendship with John F. Kennedy, Jr.

Book Review: Another Look at John's Life
Summary: 4 Stars

I enjoyed this book immensely.

Remember, the subtitle is "MY friendship with JFK, Jr.", the book is about the author and HIS friendship with John. It's not meant to be a historical view of JFK and his presidency.

Why is it OK for Carole Radiwill to write a book about her relationship with JFK, Jr. and Carolyn but not OK for Billy Noonan? Because he wasn't on Oprah.

Lighten up.

Book Review: Loved It - Couldn't Put it Down
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was fantastic. It offered an insiders view of one of America's most guarded families. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down! To those that refer to W. Noonan as a hanger-on...you're not giving the Kennedys he was so close to enough credit! This story offered the human side of John Kennedy, Jr. I don't think it was all disrespectful to him or his family. John Kennedy Jr. certainly seems to have had a rebellious streak and also a real respect for honesty. While reading I periodically found myself smiling at my own assumption that he would have gotten a kick out of the candid telling of his friendship with Billy Noonan. I absolutely recommend this book.

Book Review: Another side
Summary: 4 Stars

I listened to this book as an audio tape. When I first heard about the book, I thought that it was just another so-called Kennedy friend cashing in. But Billy Noonan was a real friend. John Kennedy and his family were wise to "hangers-on" and would have booted Mr. Noonan long before if they thought his intentions were anything but true friendship. I thought the most interesting part of the book, was the depiction of the friendship of the two men as they went from boys to manhood. Sometimes, I forgot exactly who the book was about and became more interested in what guys think about when they are together talking, throwing frisbees, etc. It was interesting to hear some behind the scenes Kennedy stories, but not because they were sensational but because they humanized the family to me. Billy Noonan survived cancer once, and he has it again. I think he wants his stories told, before it is too late. And he wants John's story told correctly, not through speculation, gossip and inuendo. I would imagine I'd feel the same way about a good friend.

Book Review: Pathetic
Summary: 1 Stars

This guy is pathetic and should be ashamed of himself. He was ashamed of his mother, yet thought John's mother could do no wrong. He is a hanger-on,and Im sure all Kennedy family members and true friends are disgusted. Also, did every social interaction revolve around liquor??

Book Review: Nothing new here - move along
Summary: 1 Stars

It is shameful that "Best Friend" Billy Noonan felt the need to dish about John Kennedy and his family. We all know that John valued his privacy and one would think that he would be horrified at this betrayal.
The sorriest thing about this book is that it is so boring. We learn nothing new about John, Carolyn or even Jackie.
Skip this book - Carole Radziwell's book is much better.
