Book Review: It reminded me of a game we played when I was young

When I was young, we often made up stories with an alternating "Unfortunately . .. fortunately" or "Fortunately ... unfortunately" theme. For example, the story would be something like this
"Unfortunately it began to rain. Fortunately, he had an umbrella. Unfortunately the umbrella had a hole in it. Fortunately he had some duct tape in his pocket. Unfortunately ..."
Sometimes, one person would take the unfortunately segment and another take the fortunately response or vice versa depending on which way we were going. Playing the game required some thought and a great deal of wit.
This book is about Ned and begins with a "Fortunately" about being invited to a birthday party. He experiences many adventures as he slowly makes his way to the party, everything from flying a plane to avoiding sharks. It is an excellent story for children and one that brought back many fond childhood memories.
