Book Review: A historic life on the dancefloor

Great book, of the life of one of the original dancers on the Harlem scene when lindyhop or jitterbug was the main dance craze in the ballrooms. The sheer privilege of reading about it from someone who was there, and who has lived through much since, seeing even videos and photos of him online these days, means this is a truly historically important social account of life for youngsters back then, and charts his experiences over the decades, leading to rediscovery in the modern age.
I met Frankie Manning once or twice in the UK, always in awe of his talent, and therefore have a fortunate chance to match the man to his words in reading this book. It prompted a read again after his death in April 09, shortly before he would have been 95. He kept dancing to the end.....
