Book Reviews of From Samaria to Samarkand

Book Review: A Fascinating Book
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of those books which, even if eventually proven incorrect, will have served its purpose of stimulating thinking.

The Ten Lost Tribes of Israel have been hypothetically placed all over the world. Such fantasies have tended to discourage serious consideration of this subject. Most realistically, one would expect to find the Lost Tribes, if indeed they are still identifiable, somewhere in southwestern Asia. And such is the case, according to Law. Samarkand is located 2,000 miles NE of Israel, and 200 miles north of Afghanistan.

Law finds numerous vestigial Jewish habits among the Samarkand peoples, including the wearing of skullcaps. The same goes for language. The people themselves have long since converted to Islam.

As a Christian, I found most fascinating the peoples' account of a onetime ghost-like visitor--Sivayush. Could this have been the Resurrected Jesus Christ, appearing to His physically-distant Jewish brethren just as He had appeared to His disciples back in Israel?
