Book Review: Another Jack Priest Thriller I Couldn't Put Down
Summary: 5 Stars
Jim Monday and his attorney David Askew are on their way to a meeting with Jim's wife, her lover and their lawyer, when a car zooms around a corner coming straight at them. A voice in Jim's head tells him to, "Jump back!." Jim does and is spared, David does not and is killed by the on rushing car, which does not stop. As it turns out, that lover of Jim's wife hired the driver to kill Jim. Jim figures it out, attacks said lover and winds up in jail on an assault charge.
Then there is that voice in his head. It turns out it belongs to an imprisoned young girl in New Zealand. In desperation she somehow cast her mind half a world away, settling in Jim Monday's head. Why him? Well there is a very good reason and one I'm not going to give away here. But needless to say, that young woman is in trouble and Jim must save her. He must save his wife too, because the man that tried to have him killed is going to kill her. However that evil lover has a few tricks up his sleeve, including a vicious, shape changing, giant gecko type monster that wouldn't bat a yellow eye over Jim's bones.
This book reads like a thriller. It's fast, furious and fun and like Mr. Priest's other two thrillers, I couldn't put it down. I just love the way he blends thrills, chills and horror together, however, I will admit as someone else has pointed out, Jim Monday is a little too old to be boffing those young girls, but other than that I really liked this book.
