Book Review: A reply to David Moore "D. Moore"

Gosh David Moore "D. Moore!" ...You have written quite a diatribe here!...and within it you preface the question, "Can we really take the liberty to alter the very Word of God like that?"
My answer to this is perhaps you should explore looking back in history after which time you will see that your version of the bible has...over time...been altered itself through the misuse of literal translation and/or bad translations on a continuum and of modern day additions to the original holy books themselves.
If, for instance, you were to look back at the Hebrew versions of your holy books (and towards the Judaic way of thinking about them)then you would find that they are not to be read literally but instead that the Hebrew letters themselves have multiple significance and meanings as a sacred language of both letters and numbers. Letters and numbers that emphasize a commonality in all things of this Earth (and those things above) as opposed to the differences that we perceive along the way in our search for the divine.
Truth be told, the Jewish interpretation of the seven days is not literally seven, twenty-four hour days but instead seven, one thousand year periods of time for us "Earth folk" to contemplate over. This said; please do not get caught up within the constraints of our modern-day thinking if, in fact, you are interested in coming to an understanding of a higher "other."
