Book Review: "Genevieve" written from a macho perspective
Summary: 4 Stars
This is EJD's most macho book to date. The male narrator's feelings about his wife and their relationship are totally exposed. His need to please his wife sexually is very important to him.
This is a book that I would enjoy reading while lounging on the side of pool or relaxing on my front porch. The ending was quite a suprise.
"Genevieve" is good, but I wouldn't say it is his best. "Cheaters, "Milk in My Coffee," "The Other Woman," and "Thieves Paradise" are my personal favorites. However, he's such a talented writer that even his weakest books are good.
I agree with much of what the other reviewers said regarding the overuse of sex. With the success of Zane's sexually charged novels, I wonder if EJD's publisher is pressuring him to write more explicit novels. I have to admit that I now find myself reading his books because I know they're going to be hot, and not because of the intricate plots he is more than capable of writing.
