Book Review: Definitely not applicable to all dogs despite the authors assertions

It seems that worldwide, the TTouch system of dog training is regarded as some miracle panacea for all canine behavioural ills.
However before you buy this book consider carefully whether your dog, like mine, has a problem with being touched.
If they do then perhaps you should forget this book and it's schemes.
Since 2 professional TTouch practitioners have now been bitten by my dog having expressed certainty that their skills will work, I'd advise caution in regarding this scheme as the answer to your problems.
The book is terribly American in it's writing style and the way in which TTouch had been given names which seem to have been designed to sound like some form of martial art.
You will be served a scheme of 'TTouches' with such names as "The lying leopard", "the clouded leopard", "noah's march", "the belly lift" and "lick of the cow's tongue".
I was just diappointed that the entire scheme seems to assume from the off that your animal is at ease with being touched. Only the 'Llama touch' is designed for dogs who suffer what the author calls "touch avoidance". Even this is glossed over with no suggestion of where to go next if it doesn't work.
I do not believe that my dog is the only dog in the world who doesn't welcome touching by humans. This is because his previous owner treated him so badly that he will only allow touching on his terms and when he has instigated it.
Overall where as these touch schemes may be ideal for many dogs, they are not necessarily so for all.
I would advise that you need to be very aware of your dog's physical likes and dislikes before you attempt this type of training.
