Book Reviews of Ghost Girl: The True Story of a Child in Peril and the Teacher Who Saved HerBook Review: A very powerfull and moving book to read Summary: 5 StarsI have to say this book was very moving and painfull to read. I could not not stop myself from crying at times as the main little girl in this book called Jadie suffers such horrific sexual abuse it is very hard to read what her and her sister go through. What keeps you gripped is Torey Hadens love and kindness to Jadie, her concern and determination to get her out of this nightmare. Its very powerfull words. All i can say is it when you read this it does play on your mind and you will be upset by what you read but on the other hand it shows you there are amazing people like Torey Haden out there helping children escape these kind of nightmares and there are people willing to fight to put these evil people away. God bless you Torey Haden!!!!
Book Review: compelling yet horrible to read Summary: 5 StarsThis book is not for the faint hearted. Torey does not hold back when describing the abuse suffered by the children she has worked with. One Child made me cry, Ghost Girl made me physically sick. It's the first time I had to stop reading and come back to it a few days later. I'm not going to descibe the book's story - just read it!!!
Book Review: Read it! Summary: 5 StarsI had never read one of Torey Hayden's books before and bought this on a whim. I half expected the book to be slow starting, hugely descriptive and full of jargon. It was none of these things which was refreshing! Torey goes straight into the case and immediately grips you into the world of this disturbed little girl. Every chapter will have you hooked. She tells the story how it happens but I never once felt she added any "hollywood suspense" - its clearly wrote from the heart. Knowing this was a true story I was desperate to find out the circumstances of Jadie's abuse and the final outcome of it all and read it in 2 days. This book is harrowing and does leave you feeling sick but also proves yet again how strong the human spirit can be.
Book Review: Torey Hayden does it again! Summary: 5 StarsTorey hayden is by far an amazing person and writer, she draws you in and won't let you go until she has made you cry howl and adore the subject(s) at least as much as she does! Ghost child tells the story of Jadie an 8-year-old selective mute girl. Unlike One Child, Tigger's Child and Twilight childen, Jadie's case isn't as straight forward as Torey believes. When Jadie does speak the horrers that she tells are unimaginable, Satanic acts that leave the reader gaging and in tears, (a specialty of Hayden's that summasses itself in this book) Yet even 10 years later one question still reamains, with Torey and readers alike, could and would it happen under the establishments noses? This book is for everyone as it not only tells of such horrific acts that happen to child abuse victims but also how easy it is to hide it, even in a small comunity where "everyone knows everyone and their business."
Book Review: best read but not for faint hearted Summary: 5 Starsthis is another torey hayden special, i have read most of her books and they touch you in a way that your emotions are at play. this one was no different the way that jadie, the child, explains in detail what has happened to her is sickening. the way that even torey hayden herself doesn't give you the answers but lets you know the details and procedures, etc so that you can make your own mind up is brilliant. i would recommend this book to anyone and would say that if you want a book to open your mind and make you think then this book, along with other torey haydens books, is the one for you.
