Book Review: "Ghost Rider" Good Read Rush Fan or Not
Summary: 4 Stars
I found "Ghost Rider" to be an interesting read. Neil does a very good job describing the details of his feelings of losing two very close to him within a period of a year and his struggle to cope with these tragedies. He goes on a venture and travels by motorcycle through North America to try and escape and deal with his grief. He really puts you into the scenery and the pain he was going through at this time.
I think Neil shows us a lot of courage by putting out such a book. He seems to show many great qualities throughout this book: He is very good to kids, generous with his friends and helping other worthy causes. But he shows he is also a very complex individual and does come off as being somewhat intolerant towards some of the people he encounters, but at the same time he does appreciate the compassion shown to him from some of the strangers he meets. The book does have a happy ending.
I have been a Rush fan for over 25 years and have seen them many times. Neil has been an influence to for me in high school to do more reading and writing. Neil is a great musician and is not only a very good lyric writer, but I think he shows that he is also a proficient writer of longer works as in "Ghost Rider". I think this is a good read for anyone to better understand the grieving process and is a lesson of the good and bad of ridding a motorcycle and teaches you about different - often remote parts of North America. You may also appreciate this book more if you are a motor cycle enthusiast. But it really does not matter whether you are a Rush fan or not, you could enjoy the book regardless.
