Book Review: Outstanding Book Summary: 5 Stars
This book is helpful and wonderful in reminding us that God is in control of every situation. The photography throughout the book, which was done by the author, is also a beautiful reminder of God's magnificence in the world. The book is easy, quick reading but still has a powerful, profound message to deliver. I recommend this book for everyone.
Book Review: Peace In The Midst Of A Storm Summary: 5 Stars
Six weeks into separation from my wife, I was given this book by a dear Aunt. "Oh great," I thought, "another coffee table book." My faith in God had been depleted from what seemed like endless, but unanswered, prayer. By the middle of the book my faith had been restored, and I repented for my weak faith and lack of trust in the Lord. My situation has not changed, but I know that God already knows the outcome, and it is what is best for me, period. God does care, God does know what's best for us, and always...always... God IS in control. If you or someone you care for is in the middle of a life crisis, this book, and the Bible, will be the greatest comfort you will find.
Book Review: Reassuring Wisdom Summary: 5 Stars
Truth that heals when most needed is simple. This book has a theme that is so simple, yet powerful. It's one that we can never be reminded of too often. Dr. Stanley does a commendable job in driving this theme to the heart of his readers. That simple, yet profound truth is that God is always in control of every situation, He knows what's best, and all things work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.Dr. Stanley makes the point that people used by God are the ones who have had to suffer some rather difficult experiences. This gives them credibility in the eyes of seekers. They speak from experience when other people approach them about their problems. There's a lot of reassurance in this power-charged little book. It's easy to read. Every bit of it is solid wisdom from the Bible.
Book Review: What bible does this author read? Summary: 1 Stars
With all due respect, just what bible is this author reading? If he read 1 John 5:19, would he please explain how God tells us that the devil is the god of this age? Furthermore, perhaps he could explain how God tells us in Hebrews 2:13 that the devil is in control of death. So if God tells us He does not control death, nor is He the god of this age, just how is God in control? What happened to free will? If we have free will, and God says we do, just how is God in control if I have free will? This is an oxymoron at its best.
Just how are we to witness to others the love of God, by telling others that God just gave leukemia to their child? So our loving God who is in control just killed your child because He has a great plan by making us question His wisdom by killing your child? Is it just me, or do you see a circular argument that just doesn't make any sense?
I can't make you want to know the truth. I can't make you read your bible. Don't take your pastor's word for it, don't take my word for it. Let's go and see what God has to say about it. He clearly says that He is not in control. Will His plan ultimately come to pass...absolutely...He says so. You have to read to find this out.
I think that saying God is in control takes away responsibility. It is God controlling me that I have this affair or steal this money or kill this person because it is His plan! I don't believe this for a second and neither should you. There are so many non-believers who when told, God is in control, just turn and walk away, never to even consider God's love because of what this loving God apparently is responsible for. Share the truth and please stop disseminating old lies and traditions of men.
Don't take my word for it, what does God really have to say about this? You need to read and do your own homework.....it is your responsibility. Or is God controlling you not to read more and learn the truth?
