Book Review: ....stealing the kids books again!

I wasn't sure what to expect....I purchased this book for my teens, and after being frustated by their lack of interest, I picked it up and read it myself, so as to argue with them more effectively!!
This is my first novel by Libba Bray, and I found the book to be an engrossing yarn of a young man's 'quixotic' adventure. The author deftly weaves disparate elements into a magical tale of a mortally-ill young man, travelling with a band of unforgettable characters, on a desperate search for a cure. The book can be slow at the start, as the young man is not very likable (though really, what teen is?)but you come to care deeply for him and his companions by the end. The book, in effect, becomes a journey for the reader as well.
Definitely a worthwhile read.
