Book Reviews of Golden Tarot DeckBook Review: A lovely, lovely tarot deck by an inspired artist Summary: 5 Stars
Golden Tarot is a favorite tarot deck of many for good reasons. Not only are the production values wonderful, from the gold gilt and box to the card printing quality, but the art is just magnificent. Oh, certainly, there are those who call this "derivative" art -- Kat Black montaged wonderful masterworks to create tarot symbols very in tune with the Waite system of Tarot symbols. But I don't. I know -- from experience -- that montaging is more difficult than original art when you're trying to make it look "original." Kat is a master at this. You'd hardly know -- if you weren't told -- that this is indeed a montage deck. And who cares (if these things bother you)? You can spend hours looking at the images. Since they are also derivative of tarot imagery down through the centuries -- which is important (how valuable is it to have a tarot deck with images that have nothing to do with the archetypal symbolism of the deck?) -- this is an endlessly fascinating and beautiful deck most people will collect, use and treasure. I came across this deck -- along with the other 30 plus decks I've collected -- in the course of 15 years of research into the symbolism, history and legends of the Tarot for my tarot-plotted novel The Last Troubadour. The themes Kat explores come as close to the themes in my book as I found, so this was a delightful "on my desk" deck. I highly recommend it for fun and pleasure.
Book Review: A n amazing deck and work of art Summary: 5 Stars
Just recieved my deck and I am astounded at the high quality of it. An incredible buy for the price. If you're a Tarot enthusiast, an admirer of Middle Age/Renaissance Art or just love owning beautiful things you'll be glad that you have this deck, it fulfills all three. I had barely opened my package at my desk before co-workers were stopping by and asking about the cards and admiring the imagery of them. The production values of the deck are quite good as well, a nice heavy card stock with a good "feel" to the cards and the gilt edging is a wonderful touch. I can't imagine anybody purchasing this deck and being dissapointed by it.

Book Review: A wonderful gift that keeps on giving Summary: 4 Stars
After reading the reviews about this tarot deck, I purchased it as a gift for a friend. She keeps raving about how beautiful the art is and how it makes her feel comfortable in using it because it's so beautiful and not scary looking. I rated it 4 stars only because I haven't personally used the deck myself.
Book Review: Absolutely beautiful deck Summary: 5 Stars
I add my enthusiastic "me too" to the things said about the deck below. The deck is so beautiful, I hate to shuffle it, but it is inexpensive enough that I can afford to use it as an everyday deck. Timeless art collaged into the familiar RWS symbol system. The deck is so beautiful that I feel lucky to be alive whenever I use it.
The deck absolutely blows me away...
Book Review: Absolutely stunning pictures Summary: 4 Stars
This is a truly elegant deck with gorgeous artwork. NIce heavy stock, beautifully gilt edges. I'm glad I got them. I just wish they'd make all tarot cards a bit smaller - my hands have a problem shuffling them.
