Book Reviews of Golf For DummiesBook Review: Got Me Back Into the Game Summary: 4 Stars
I decided to begin playing golf again after a 20 year absence.
I hoped it would be like riding a bicycle but to be safe I decided to read this book prior to actually picking up the clubs again. I found it very useful for refreshing myself on the basics and also catching up on new techniques and equipment developments and terminology since I last played.
It gave me enough confidence to play 18 holes on a very challenging course after one lesson with the course pro.
I would have liked more illustations but other than that, the book was excellent.
Book Review: Great Book for Players of all Abilities Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a Golf Instructor and purchased the book because I enjoy Gary's humorous side of golf.
If your handicap is higher than legal drinking age, or if you're a Club Champion, I'm confident you will find Gary's book not only funny and entertaining, but informative and insightful. It's also and excellent reference book, if you're having trouble with one or more areas of your game, or if you want to make your good game better.
I will be taking a number of his tips, drills, and techniques to my students this season!
Great job, Gary! Keep up the great work!
Book Review: Great Book for beginners Summary: 4 Stars
This book has helped me as a beginner golfer. It has been a
sort of personal trainer without being stiff. I recommend it
to those of us who are not professional golfers.
Book Review: He fixed my full swing and that's a lot! Summary: 4 Stars
I've been at my golf swing for 15 years. Never got the downswing to precisely reproduce. After ignoring golf books for years I read this book. Why? I'm a big fan of the 'Dummies' series.
His section on the full swing, specifically his description of the left and right legs, made a dramatic difference in my game. For the first time I could mentaly visualize the feeling of a completed full swing. In technical terms; my proprioception was educated. This is not to say that the 2 feet of shelf space devoted to golf books hasn't helpful. It is to say that his book became the latest and finest polish to swing details!
Book Review: Late Golf Bloomer Summary: 5 Stars
What a great resource for newbies to the game. As a 72-year-old who doesn't even know when/where one changes from street to golf shoes, it's all covered in this well-written nicely priced book...while my instructor hasn't encouraged me to go out on the course...just yet...I know some things about golf strokes that my so-called "good" golfer neighbors don't know!
