This book came my way shortly after the death of my husband, and I slowly savored it, able to read (or listen to) only one or two passages per day. More than thought-provoking, this collection prompts healing of the emotions and spirit, and deserves a pace that honors its intent.
For those grieving, or helping someone prepare for death, the chapters and messages are short enough to absorb, deep enough to feel real. The newer edition has a second CD of music only--a nice alternative for times when you want to be immersed in the gentle sounds without having to pay attention to the words--and the words do require attention.
I bought an extra copy knowing I would want to share it with others, and already have need of it. I can't think of a better gift for anyone who is facing one's own death or the death of a loved one, or trying to find ways to fully appreciate one's own life after the loss of a partner or parent.
