Book Reviews of Grand Obsession: A Piano OdysseyBook Review: Could not put the book (in Kindle) down! Summary: 5 StarsI'm learning how to play in my middle age so that I can help my young daughter with her piano practice. I got hooked and recently bought a 20-year old 208T Schimmel grand piano after three months of searching. After having it for a little while, I discovered that my piano does not sound like I had expected it. However, thanks to the author, I feel better about my piano, which seems to change its sound daily. I'm also inspired to hire a technician to make my piano sound better.
What a great book! I really couldn't put it down.
Book Review: I'm completely non-musical.... Summary: 5 StarsBut I thoroughly enjoyed Knize's search for the "perfect piano", and then the quest to find a tuner to make the one she found "right again."
Most of the other reviewers seem to me musicians - either professional or amateur - and they probably understood the technicalities of the piano better than I did, but I appreciated the effort to achieve almost-perfection.
And, Knize is a very good writer, very smooth. That always adds to the reader's search for the "perfect book"!
Book Review: The Piano lovers read Summary: 5 StarsThis is just a must read for anyone who loves the piano. A perfect gift for the piano student or owner....
Book Review: I read this book in 3 days!!!!!! Summary: 5 StarsI really enjoyed reading this book. I was very impressed with how well written this book was .at Being a pianist myself, I could really relate to the writer wanting to have that perfect sound out of her piano. This book read like a real adventure and I was hanging on to see what would happen next!
Book Review: Perseverance and Passion Summary: 5 StarsWhat an awesome book, I read it straight through. I could smell the varnish, feel the hammers, hear the strings being struck. This book is a must for piano lovers and well as those looking for a mentor for life's challenges when seeking the desire of the heart. A particular sound and touch resonates with the soul and cannot be forfeited for anything less. The journey Perri takes is typical of all that is worthwhile in life that requires focus on your inner self and a calling to a higher power. A great source of knowledge about the pragmatic mystique of this wonderful instrument that has no equal, the piano. The book is alive.
