Book Review: I love this book!

My kids and I are were first introduced to Grandpa's Visit as part of the KUMON curriculum. The story intrigued me and I just had to find the original. This is a lovely book with an important message about relationships. The grandpa comes to visit his son and his family. He is surprised and saddened to see how little time they spend with one another. The parents are hard working, but hardly ever home. The boy has several electronic gadgets at his disposal. but no friends to hang out with. He is disappointed when grandpa presents him with a large present which turns out to be a ball. However, one day Grandpa gets bored and begins fiddling around with all the electronic equipment and blows a fuse. The family first panics to have lost all the power, but then they discover how much fun it is simply to hang out, toss a ball around, and simply enjoy each other's company. Grandpa's Visit is a beautifully illustrated book which conveys an important message with humor and grace.
