Book Review: A "Greeny," ride!

Green Rider by Kristen Britain is a nice book to add to your fantasy collection. It is a typical fantasy novel, with its trappings of your not so heroic, unlikely girl going out and trying to complete a desperate quest. In Green Rider's case, it is a messege for the king that contains some vital informtation that the enemy tries to stop it's delivery at all cost, including the rider.
Karigan is swept up into events after getting in trouble in her school by beating up one of the Lord's sons. Thinking that her father could take care of things, she sets-off to meet him and tell her part of the story before the school does when a horse with a dying rider comes into her mist.
The rider makes her swear that no matter what, she will deliver the letter if she loves her king and if anyone were to capture her, she was to rip the letter up and never read it. Karigan takes the letter, the rider's brooch and green cloak and The Horse and rides away into a adventure she thought she would never had gotten herself into. Her plans are thrown aside, while she struggles with the dead green rider's horse, all the while she can feel the ghost of Green Rider Cobblebay following her, with the Shadow Man and hunters close behind...
Green Rider is a good book, though not the best treasure in fantasy, it is nearly up there with the rest. If you like daring quest with similar charm of J.R.R.Tokien and Elizabeth Moon's The Deed of Paksenarrion trilogys, then you should enjoy Green Rider.
