Book Review: You have to start somewhere
Summary: 4 Stars
A great way to start learning how to play. You have to start somehow and learn both TAB and some music notation and this is as good as anything out there. Similar in style to the Mel Bay method books (7 levels compared to three here) Stops teaching a lot earlier than Mel Bay but has TAB which the Bay books don't. Solo exercises are a bit cheesy, but at the start you won't be able to play much more anyway (and all the good stuff is copyright anyway so you can stop looking for the teaching method with all that expensive contempary music anyway).
This version has a nice ring binder backing so it opens easily as well. Nice professional job from Publishers Hal Leonard and there are two versions, one with 3 full band CD's to take you through all the exercises and a cheaper version with no CDs. I'd take the one with the CDs as they seem to be easily available and cheap.
Suitable for anyone starting to play and over say 10-12 year old up to whatever (75?)
