Book Reviews of Harriet the SpyBook Review: "Harriet the Spy" is an adolescent must-read! Summary: 5 Stars
Harriet M. Welsch, current spy and future world-famous author, is in trouble. Her secret spy notebook has been read by her classmates and now they all hate her, even her best friends, Sport and Janie. Her beloved nanny, Ole Golly, has moved away. Harriet is alone. Not even her daily spy route can help her to escape the reality of the situation because she has been caught--the worst thing that can ever happen to a spy. What is she going to do?Before, life was good for Harriet. She ate a tomato sandwich every day for lunch. Ole Golly was there to talk to and to freely share advice. She played Town with Sport and helped Janie with her bizarre science experiments. Even awful Marion Hawthorne and her sidekick, Beth Ellen Hansen, were managable. But as soon as her notebook got found and read by her classmates, Harriet's world was turned upside-down. "They are out to get me," Harriet wrote in her notebook. "The whole room is filled with mean eyes. I won't get through the day. I might throw up my tomato sandwich. ...They may think I am a weakling, but a spy is trained for this kind of fight. I am ready for them." And so Harriet M. Welsch, undefeatable spy, sets out to seek justice, and, if necessary, revenge. This is a delightful and entertaining story to read. Harriet's notebook excerps are hilarious and help to demonstrate the confusing world of a maturing adolescent. Although the odds are against her, Harriet doesn't let it keep her down.

Book Review: A 7-year-old book-worm's review! Summary: 4 Stars
I liked this book because it was full of action. I liked the characters, especially Janie because when she was mad, she smiled. Isn't that funny?
I also liked that it had a happy ending.
Book Review: A Fabulous Book Summary: 5 Stars
(...) I have read the whole book of Harriet the Spy and as long as long as I live, I will love this book. This is the best book I have ever read, because it has very vivid writing and you can almost hear Harriet thinking and see what Harriet is doing (what everybody is doing). Harriet learns two things: First, sometimes you need to lie to your friends in order to keep them your friends. Second, friends are very important. I could read this book a thousand times more and not get bored with it. I would recommend over 70 people reading this book a month.
Book Review: A Fav from my Childhood Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the few books I completely and clearly remember from my childhood. I grew up in apartments so I think I really got into the spying on your neighbors bit...however, none of my neighbors were as exciting as Harriet's! I also liked to journal. I think Harriet is a character the average kid can relate to--she's not Miss Popular nor is she at the bottom of the social heap either. She has not-so conventional people that love her and she learns a valuable lesson. Go out and get this book for any pre-teen girl or for yourself!
