Book Reviews of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Book 4)Book Review: Longer, darker and just as exciting as before Summary: 5 StarsLike Potter fans throughout the country, I rushed to the door to collect my Amazon delivery from the postman. In fact, I hardly slept last night, so when it arrived, I sat down and read it cover to cover. At 640 pages, this took a bit longer to do, but the length gives as JK Rowling a chance to expand her ideas and continue her look at the darker side of wizardry, which started with the Prisoner of Azakaban. Harry's arch-enemy (dare we say nemesis?), Voldemort is lurking again and once more the central question is - who can be trusted? Hermione and Ron are as engaging as ever, and it's not just Harry who gets interested in the opposite sex. Harry and his friends are very definitely growing up in this book, and the Harry Potter series look like they might just grow into a epic in the Tolkien tradition.
Book Review: There are Dark Times ahead Summary: 5 StarsJust a few hours after release and my eyes are being held open with matchsticks. Far and away the best yet. As for the ending, we'll you just have to read it for yourself, but it is so shocking... Are Amazon reviewers allowed to give ten stars?
Book Review: Stunned Summary: 5 StarsI have just finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I am more in love with the books than ever before! I think I feel what every other kid in the UK is feeling... finishing the book was amazing and when I see other kids enjoying the book(s) as much as I do I can't help but think "Hey thats my book! My Harry and my magic!" By the time I'm 16 the series will be finished and I'll have finished my growing up with Harry. Who knows what'll happen by then? ...This book gave many answers but also opened up a thousand new qestions. I loved loved loved it and tomorrow I plan to read it all again!
Book Review: Wonderful book, and who said it's for children anyway ! Summary: 5 StarsAfter a long wait Harry Potter day finally made it to the U.K. I got the book this morning and just finished it, so these comments are really first thoughts.I dont want to spoil the plot for anyone so I will keep the comments general. I am thirty something years old and so am perhaps more cynical and jaded than the target audience, although as the book is now 636 pages long I wonder if the target audience may be shifting. Looking dispationately at the book I must admit that it could be trimmed by about a third without loosing anything vital, there seems to be a lot more background development. Whilst the plot developed in the usual Harry Potter fashion I did not find it quite so gripping as previous volumes but this may be that I am simply getting used to the style and pace of the series rather than any lack of content. It is always tempting to look for faults in something you have anticipated for months and being honest I read the book in a day and found that I kept picking it up at every spare moment. I was able to predict some elements of the plot as I progressed but sitll found the world of Hogwarts and Harry Potter to be wonderful and a thoroughly entertaining read. There will inevitably be those who will seek to dismiss this title as more of the same but I can honestly say that if you liked the first three you will love this one as well. If you are one of those who didn't order your copy long ago rush out and buy it immediately, I don't think you will feel at all let down. It is refreshing to find a series of books with such a wide appeal. As a result of the open ending of this book, I for one am now anxiously awaiting volume 5 to find out what happens next.
Book Review: Rowling Works Her Magic Again! Summary: 5 StarsEven though I have not completely finished Ms. Rowling's latest addition to her wonderful Harry Potter series, I must say that from what I have read thus far, this book is absolutely marvelous. It's definitely another page turner. Writing this review has been one of the few times I have put this book down. Rowling definitely does have the touch of a great wizard. It's almost as if she's created a spell to entrance her readers into expanding their imaginations with her purely ingenious books. I don't want to give anything away, but I can assure you that if your hoping that this book is just as exciting as all three of the previous additions to the Harry Potter series, you will not be disappointed. Harry Potter rules!
