Book Reviews of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Book 5)Book Review: Thank Goodness the Wait is over..... Summary: 4 StarsWas it worth the wait? True Harry fans will undoubtedly say yes and the story is a compelling one with twists and turns and scenes where you cannot read the words fast enough. However, whilst JK is writing realistically with Harry feeling anger and bitterness and a typical 15year old's frustration, perhaps it is not so full of the feelgood factor of previous books, which will be missed by younger readers. Yes Harry always had a bad time but we were always comforted at the end of each book that it would be all right eventually. There were many many hilarious humourous scenes in the previous books but they are in short supply in this story. Now, we know that the big bad is coming but Harry really seemed to be alienated from those closest to him. He needs to be endearing and forlorn even for us to care and I hope that in the next book he regains some of his former charm so that we do genuinely care. Dumbledore's lack of presence was disconcerting. We have got used to him being a benign comforting part of Harry's life and he should have been around more instead of just at the end. Perhaps this is just reinforcing Harry's feelings of separation. The book is as good as we hoped but the next book needs to be available soon so that the momentum is continued.
Book Review: This book rocks Summary: 5 StarsI got this book on the day it came out, and I finished it on the same day. To make things more interesting and exciting, this book tells you about the secrets of Harry's past. I'll stop there, because I don't want to ruin the surprise for you, but there are certainly very surprising things in this book.
Book Review: Longer, darker and even better Summary: 5 StarsAfter 8 hours of solid reading, I've finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The fifth in the series of seven books by JK Rowling, this book is darker than the previous stories. Like the others, the story takes a while to get into, but once you're in, you're hooked. Harry is neglected by his friends all summer, before events at the Dursleys mean he is summoned to attend a disciplinary hearing at the Ministry of Magic. After that, the adventures come thick and fast, as Harry attempts to cope with the pressures of studying for OWLS, fear of Voldemort, and a romance. We learn more about his parents and Snape, and yes, there is a death which will affect Harry deeply ... This book is darker and more adult in tone than the previous books, and sets up the story very well for the remaining 2 books. Roll on book 6!
Book Review: A long awaited sequel in the shape of Harry Potter! Summary: 4 StarsAfter years of waiting for this book i got rather excited, and not without cause. J K Rowling manages again to write a superb book even if I feel it had been slightly over rated. These feelings however do not take away the fact that this book does exactly as I hoped it would do. It kept me captivated, added excitement, mystery and I could not literally put the book down all day. I was rather surprised that Rowling killed off Sirius as I thought it would be someone more important to the whole Harry Potter saga, such as Ron or Hermione or even Harry to add a dramatic end as it has said to be reported that the actor playing him will not be continuing. This is an excellent piece of work and is easily the best book yet, and I would personally recommend it to anyone who has been held captive by the rest of the books. I enjoyed the twists and the turns which helped bind the book together, such as Voldemort controlling Harry, Professor Umbridge and many other things that make this book a delight to read. In it was cleverly woven a theme which has carried on through the whole series so far. Dumbledore explaining the mystery of why Harry was landed with the Dursleys and many other things answered many questions many readers have been trying to figure out. This carried on nicely from the Goblet of Fire and the way Rowling handles killing of characters and how it happens can only be done by a truely brilliant writer, as well as intoducing an interesting character in the shape of Professor Umbridge, who I'm sure will prove delightful to other readers to read about. Not forgetting the event of Ron becoming keeper, Harry being kicked off the Quidditch team, and perhaps, a very nice surprise was that of Fred and Georges departure. The only regret I have from this book is that its too big and too heavy to be carried around.
Book Review: simply excellent Summary: 5 StarsI spent the day reading this book from cover to cover when it was released...J.K. Rowling has produced another novel which, as ever, keeps you turning page after page for more.Just as in book IV the whole series began to get darker, so too in this book there is less humour and harsher reality... the dangers from Voldemort as well as teenage angst. Anyone with a penchant for the previous books will devour this one and not be disappointed.
