Book Review: The Order of The Phoenix Summary: 5 StarsA very good continuation of the Harry Potter series with all the quality we now expect from this author. The plot matures as well as Harry's character, a host of new and imaginative characters complete the book with some serious exchanges of sorcery.
Book Review: well worth the wait Summary: 5 StarsI had eagerly anticipated the release of this book and was not disapointed. I read the entire book in one day, i just could not put it down. The story was well written and JK Rowling had me on temterhooks throughout the novel. I was well aware that a character was going to die and there were a number of events where i thought 'this is it' only for it not to be. When the actual death seen arrived I was a little disapointed as it was not how I expected it to be. However the aftermath was handled very well.Fred and George Weasly are at their best in this book. Harry, Ron and Hermione have grown up and there are some brilliant new characters. I enjoyed this book and will go and re-read it very soon. Lets' hope we are not kept waiting quite as long for book 6!!!
Book Review: The Order of the Phoenix - Titleless review Summary: 5 StarsJ K Rowling has kept up her high reputation with the long awaited Order of the Phoenix, the fifth instalment of the seven Harry Potter books. When dementors attack Dudley Dursley in the quiet town of Little Whinging, Surrey during the summer holidays, you can tell someone's up to something, and that something's not going to be a good something. You're launched straight into the centre of this exhilarating book as it starts. Dementors attacking, Harry being put on trial in front of the ministry of magic for use of an underage Patronus in front of a muggle child, and 'burglars' being heard whilst the Dursleys were out, leaving Harry locked in his room. The welcome and unexpected reappearance of some characters such as Professor Lupin, Professor Grubbly-Plank and Firenze (the stargazing centaur who saved Harry once) added to a host of new ones, such as 'Loony' Lovegood and the twisted, froglike new Defence against the Dark Arts teacher/High Inquisitor/Ministry of Magic employee, Dolores Umbridge keep the book familiar, yet novel (excuse the pun), and finally people learn that Lucius Malfoy hasn't returned from his Death Eater ways. An enthralling book, with many twists and turns. Oh, yes, and someone dies; someone important...
Book Review: Too much filler, not enough plot Summary: 3 StarsIf you've been eagerly awaiting Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix since you got to the end of the compelling Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, you'll lap this book up.But if you're like me, you'll still feel a little disappointed by the end. There are definitely some great dramatic moments, and the usual sprinkling of laughs. It's nice to see Ron Weasley finally achieving something that's all his own. I loved Sirius's parents creepy London house and the mad portrait of his mother. Finally the awful Dursleys start to look more like real people rather than just joke characters, and we get to find out what Voldemort's vendetta against Harry is all about. But by the end of the book we haven't really moved on much, either in plot or character development - and for a book this thick, that's saying something. A bit more trimming would have made this a better, if a shorter book. Not the book to read if you are coming to the Potter trilogy new. It's one for hardened fans only - but there are certainly plenty of them!
