Book Reviews of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Book 5)Book Review: Not Quite the Usual Harry Potter Magic... Summary: 4 StarsWhile I enjoyed reading this book, and would definitely recomend it to Harry Potter fans, I felt it lacked the magic that made many of the others so brilliant. Many of the best loved elements from the previous books have been drastically cut (eg Quiddich, Dumbledore) in the aim of keeping the new chapter fresh. Harry's all consuming anger tainted the first half of the book, which seemed less mistical another realm and more angst driven teenager. There was a certain ammount of discontinuity with the characters, and I felt that Sirius and Dumbledore especially were not the same roles as presented in the previous books. I also thought that it took a long time for any action to begin to happen that developed the storyline. However I felt that the second half was better written with a more obvious pace, although the final encounter with voldemort was shortlived. The book did not draw me in as others had, and I was not left craving more, instead an empty feeling remained, and I felt as though I had been dragged through the deperssed and confusing world of a hormonal Harry Potter. I liked that J.k Rowling had decided to make a little more of the romantic interests in the book, though some (such as Hermione and Ron) were hinted at, but left unexplored. I grew to dislike the character of Cho Chang, who has gradually been integrated more strongly into the books, and was glad when it seemed that that avenue of exploration had been dicontinued. I did enjoy reading this book and will doubtless read it again in the future, however I was dissapointed by the half hearted death of my favourite character, Sirius. I thought it happened too quickly to take in, and did not create an emotional impact on the reader. Also the circumstance with the veil were never fully explained, and while other roles such as Lupin and Dumbledore said he had died, I live in hope that Luna is correct in that we have not yet seen the last of him.

Book Review: Simply mind blowing .. Summary: 5 StarsHarry Potter and the order of the phoenix is mind blowing. Well worth waiting in anticipation for three years. After many rumours of who exactly is going to be killed in this book, no-one has guessed who it is. The beginning is slightly long before Harry arrives at Hogwarts, but he is involved with something very important beforehand. Harry has really grown up in this book, and there is alot of anger. He is fifteen and acts like a typical moody teenager at times. However the things he has to face in this book show how grown up he is and how much he has had to face in his lifetime. The person who dies, leaves an effect upon Harry, beyond grief. The things he learns, the things dumbledore has kept from him these five years, are unbelievable.Harry learns about his father and what he was like at school, and how alike he was. There are a bunch of new characters in this book(involved before and from the past).Harry learns alot about himself in this book, and how he must value his friends and stay loyal in times of trouble. I really have to take off my hat and congratulate J.K. Rowling on this masterpiece. It is written and described in such a enthralling way, that the death seems so real, and everything that is happening in the magical world has almost been waiting to happen. The book is as excellent as the others, however this one has a certain edge, which makes it rule over the previous 4.
Book Review: well worth the wait Summary: 4 StarsHaving recieved my copy of the book on saturday morning i finished it on saturday night after reading non stop all day.The plot deviates slightly from the mould of the other books, in this book there is no real mystery for Harry and the gang to solve, although there are plenty of adventures and mishaps. In this book Harry is a teenager and acting like one! he has quite a few angry outbursts and he sticks up for himself more. The action starts early in this book what with Harry and Dudley been attacked by Dememtors. It's well known that J.K Rowling has killed off a well loved character in this book and she has done a brilliant job of keeping people guessing, there are red herrings as to who it is throughout the book which will keep you reading. As i mentioned earlier Harry and co. are growing up and its nice to see characters in a childrens story change over time, often in major book series the characters all stay the same age. Many of the other 'bit part' characers are fleshed out more in this book (particulary Neville i thought) as well the addition of some completely new characters who we probably havent seen the last of. All in all the book does not dissapoint J.K Rowling has done a fabulous job of developing her characters in to believable young adults who for all there talents are as flawed and normal as 15yr olds.
Book Review: BEST ONE YET!!!!!!!!!!!!! Summary: 5 StarsHarry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the best book in the series. J.K Rowling manages to capture Harry as a normal boy rather than an intrernational hero. In this book J.K Rowling turns Harry into an adolescent. Harry feels strong emotions which brings a lot more reallity into the book
