Book Reviews of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's StoneBook Review: A very exciting book Summary: 5 StarsI think this book is very exciting and a good read. It gives a lot of descriptions and sometimes you really think your there with them. I'm not eight years old yet but I can read it. It's great.
Book Review: Completely enjoyable, great storytelling. Summary: 5 StarsTHE book which we recommend for difficult gift purchases is this one. Published as a childrens book,(which it clearly is,)nonetheless Harry Potters adventures are compelling reading for adults too. J.K. Rowling's gift is great storytelling, but unlike some books with strong narratives, this has a rigorous structure which, by the second book in the series, left me in awe.If we all sometimes dream of writing that novel, then we also occasionally read a book that leaves you thinking to yourself 'No, I couldn't have written that'.The central character Harry Potter, is of course us, the reader: he overcomes what his enemies throw at him, with magic, but also most importantly through his essentially good character. The details like using owls to deliver mail are inspired and imaginative. This is a fully formed world which is a sheer joy to visit. We at Stoke Newington Bookshop have recommended this book to many children and parents. Not one has come back disapointed.
Book Review: BUY THIS BOOK - DON'T WAIT UNTIL CHRISTMAS Summary: 5 StarsSince I put in a review of the 2nd Harry Potter, I wouldn't want anyone to think it was better than the first one, so I just thought I'd give a quick 5 house points to the younger Harry to start him on his way.
Book Review: The only thing that will make you put it down is sleep!!!!!! Summary: 5 StarsMy imagination had hungered for an awesome thrashing tinged with miraculous explorations... this book satisfys this craving. It's wonderous and magical!
Book Review: A brilliant book. If you're into magic, you have to read it. Summary: 5 StarsThis book is brilliant. I first bought it when I was going on holiday to Yorkshire. I thought that I wouldn't read it at all. Instead, I read four times! It is about a boy who is sent off to wizard school and his adventures there. You really feel that you are with Harry all the time. Well Done J.K. Rowling!!
