Book Review: More than just an ID guide

The book covers a range of invertebrates families including corals, molluscs, crustaceans, echinoderms and sponges. This is a potentially huge group of organisms and Hoover clearly has to concentrate on those most likely to be encountered. The 500 photos are generally of good quality and the text is informative, not a simple listing of ID characteristics, and is clearly set out. Like its sister publication 'Hawaii's Fishes' - it discusses habits, distribution and other background information on the creatures covered that makes it much more than just an ID guide.
