Book Review: An insight into the phonyness of show business

I'm a lifelong Neil Diamond fan and found this book to be self-indulgent tripe. First off, the author is a critic from Rolling Stone magazine, so right there you know you can't take him seriously. Second, he comes off as being Neil's best friend based on a single personal encounter. It's also more than obvious reading this nonsense that Diamond is trying as hard as he can to please the critics. He doesn't give a truckload of autographed memorabilia to just any fan after all. The book's title should be "How I Learned to Stop Worrying About Keeping My Job and Write a Good Review For Neil Diamond" because music critics are paid to stick to the formula. They are required to be politically correct and write good reviews about certain music and bad reviews about other kinds or they won't have a job for very long. Critics are just about the lowest form of life next to Congressmen.
