I had trouble finding what the purpose of these magnets were, so I decided to purchase them and check them out. The purpose of the magnets are to do the "Code Magnets" exercises with the Head First Java book. Without the Java book the magnets have little purpose. You don't need the magnets to use the book, but you need the book to use the magnets. I personally feel that these magnets should be included free with the book.
The magnets are great if you learn by doing, but you can write the code or type the code and get a similar learning experience.
