Book Reviews of Healing Back Pain: The Mind-Body ConnectionBook Review: A well-written book that offers more than just hope Summary: 5 StarsHealing Back Pain is a wonderful book that offers hope to many who have run out of options. The main focus - that many back problems are caused by stress - is something Dr. Goliszek in his books (60 Second Stress Management is his latest) has been preaching for years. I've used this book, along with the very effective and simple stress management techniques in Goliszek's book to rid myself of back problems I'd suffered with for a decade. I highly recommended them.
Book Review: This book changes lives and leads to knew discoveries. Summary: 5 StarsAs a Two-Spirit Shaman, a Post-Op Transsexual, a Chi Gung Master, and the author of one of the best-selling Chi Kung books in print (Chi Gung: Chinese Healing, Energy, and Natural Magick), I am always looking for new books to help me in my intuitive, feminine based healing practice and work with plants, animals, and people. Using energy work (Chi), it is indeed possible to help heal a tremendous variety of disorders ranging from hiccups and sneezing fits to infertility, strokes, and ovarian cancer. What John has done with his book is to tap into one aspect of healing, specifically, back pain, and he shows how the mind can indeed help you to take responsibility and help to heal yourself. Once you learn how to use his techniques to help to heal your back, you can apply the knowledge he has shared with you as you explore other books and other esoteric healing methods that can teach you to adopt this type of technique to virtually any healing situation as well as to even apply it to almost all areas of your life from health and fitness to personal relationships, careers, and recreation. Read this book. It will open doors for you that you can then enter to discover the unlimited possibilities of healing using the mind and body connection.
Book Review: Incredible!! It Works!! Summary: 5 StarsAs a healthcare professional, I was very suspicious about this idea. However, last night after suffering through a gridlocked 6 hr. round of golf with my body wrecked in pain, I caught the conclusion of a 20/20 interview with Dr. Sarno. I gamely tried a suggestion one of the interviewees presented. Lo and behold, an hour later I caught myself running up the stairs. No pain at all. In all candor, I am truly embarrassed to disclose this, but it works. This morning, I tested myself again and have full range of motion. Irony of this disclosure, I haven't bought the book yet!!
Book Review: It Works Summary: 5 StarsIf you can be perfectly candid about yourself and honestly assess your emotions and personality-and how you relate to the world-this book can work miracles. Simply reading it is the cure to chronic pain, because Sarno leaves you no loopholes. If, however, you insist that your pain is a physical phenomenon (therefore not your fault) and not emotional, then Sarno's book won't help. Of course, I'm assuming anyone with chronic pain has had thorough medical exams to eliminate possible serious illnesses. If that's the case, then you should check out Sarno.
Book Review: Loved by doc/brain-author who is usually a skeptic... Summary: 5 StarsUsually very suspicious of books that reach popular media on pain problems. Perform acupuncture in a pain clinic and see lots and lots of back pain. Sarno covers this in an accurate way, offering alternatives to narcotics and surgery that are worth trying. Only comment is that there are many variations of back pain and the type described although very common is not the only one. May I suggest "The Care and Feeding of Your Brain" as a companion book in helping you understand how pain problems occur, and how you can optimize your brain to help deal with treatment options...all the best to Dr.Sarno...Kenneth Giuffre',MD author, "The Care and Feeding of Your Brain"
