Book Review: TAYLOR BARES HIS HEART & SOUL [4? stars]

This autobiography shows the deeper side of Taylor Hicks - and not just his goofy showmanship that was his signature on "American Idol." In this book, he neither sugar-coats his growing-up years nor does he give his readers the false impression that the road to fame is an easy one (as he recounts his times as a struggling musician before his big break on "Idol"). In this book, he explains his philosophy toward making music, why he's never dyed his hair, why he dances goofy, etc. In short, his message is: 1) Don't give up on your dreams - even if others try to convince you otherwise, and 2) you need to work at it and not expect it to be dropped in your lap. Good advice for anyone trying to break into the music field. Overall, an excellent read which kept my attention all throughout the book. As a compantion to this book, I would also purchase Taylor Hicks' self-titled debut CD. Both are highly recommended.
