Book Review: Out Of The Darkness...
Summary: 5 Stars

Taylor Hicks, like a Phoenix, has risen from the ashes of life on the road and written an absolutely stunning biography depicting the first 30 years of his existance. This is a story of courage, hope and the ability to believe in yourself when everything around you has turned to dust. From the moment I saw Taylor and heard his voice during the first audition for American Idol, I wondered what forces had forged this soulful being. There was something different about him but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. Heart Full of Soul will enlighten, entertain and answer any questions one might have had about Taylor. It also is a great addition to his debut CD which, I have come to believe, defines Taylor Hicks. His voice and style are very much his own and yet, I hear so many influences within it that it's difficult to pigeon-hole him into one genre. I say, Bravo and keep on doing what you are doing so well.

After reading his story I wanted to leave a message for him somewhere on this crazy entity we call the internet and tell him that I know what it feels like to be different, hold fast and continue to walk forward with your dreams intact. I am not only a fan Taylor, I'm part of your Heart Full of Soul. Anyone who reads this insightful story and appreciates how you came to be a soul man will be a part of it too.

Book Review: You go Tay Tay
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the crazy lady that couldn't figure out my cell phone camera to take your picture in that isolate Southaven parking lot. The comedy or the karma of events that lead to my mother and I meeting you yesterday is only summed up in one word KARMA. I know to you we seemed we were "rubber necking". You gave us five minutes of your life and by chance noticed that I was not gonna get the camera going and pointed to a piece of paper in my Mom's purse. Did you notice what you signed was a STAX pamphlet? Did you know in Tupelo your tee shirt was a Stax one? KARMA is not always a bitch and thank you for your time in that in the middle of nowhere place that made two women happy. We were giddy. It was my mother's sixty seventh birthday and the best moment we have ever had together.

As she told you Taylor, you have nowhere to go but UP!!!

And may all of us Southerns always end up talking football. HOTTY TODDY!!!

You talk to my heart you make me feel with your words you make me grin when I see you and yes I must say me and my mother are your life groupies.

Sometimes its good for entertainment at the Thanksgiving table.

Kiesses and keep making us smile.

Forever,

KellyBelle

Oh yeah, I read the book in one night. I am not reading it for the SECOND TIME. Keep up the good work boy and don't forget to buy sweet tea when you can.

Book Review: Following Your American Dream
Summary: 5 Stars

I loved this book by Taylor. After being voted the American Idol last year and beginning to live his dream, Taylor has pinned an autobiography which doesn't pull any punches. The raw truthfullness about his early homelife begins to give us a perspective about Taylor. As he describes his later years, especially the years just prior to Idol, we see his behavior equals his frustrations. It isn't often these types of painful memories are written down just as someone's career is just beginning.
This young man of only 30 years of age is to be applauded for bareing his soul. I would recommend this book to anyone, even if you are not a fan. The human spirit and determination triumph large in this book. Also the audio book is not to be missed either. Thank you for letting me express my views on 'Heart Full of Soul'.

Book Review: Fast read -- little depth
Summary: 3 Stars

I really like Taylor Hicks and his music. I voted for him. I've bought his CDs and will continue to do so. I just wish I felt as if I knew him better after reading this book (yes, in one evening, which is revealing in itself). I did learn a little more about his early days, pre-Idol, but most that follows is a slick, quick, superficial summary of his life since auditioning -- little that hasn't been published before or what fans already know by watching the show and following his career. I ached for just a few behind-the-scenes anecdotes -- descriptions, conversations, feelings, reactions, anything specific I didn't know or had read. The self-deprecating humor ending almost every paragraph got old fast. He kept it light all right -- much too light. In his AI audition he said he wanted his voice heard -- I don't feel as if I heard it very well here. He reveals much more through his music.

Book Review: The Book Made me Smile
Summary: 5 Stars

Taylor Hicks is such a humble guy! I loved this book. I love his attitude on life. The book was entertaining and funny. Even the early years of struggle when his parents divorced were described with loving humor and honesty. This is an inspirational book for anyone who has a dream. Read the book and pass it along to a teen in your life.
