I am 12 years old. I think that if Taylor can overcome a difficult childhood and go on to win the biggest talent show in America that he has a lot to teach me. I'm happy to learn from his example. I have my own share of faults like Taylor and he taught me that I can succeed too. My mom and me were both voting for Taylor to win and we are happy that he did. He has made alot of amazing accomplishments. My dad didn't vote but he read this book and liked it too. He said "good for Taylor!" that he kept following his dream and said we can all learn from his example. I respect my dad's opinion alot. Taylor has done it again! Such a heart-breaking, yet inspiring story about his journey from struggling bar singer to winner of the biggest talent show in America! The book had me laughing one minute to crying the next and reads like he's talking to you. The amount of pain and rejection he had to endure in the 10 years prior to winning American Idol is truly remarkable - and to have overcome those obstacles to become a platinum selling recording artist & internationally known and respected singer/songwriter is amazing! He's the best thing to come out of that show since it began and I have no doubt that we have many many more years of great music from this truly unique and inspiring young man. I do not understand why Taylor Hicks chose to write a biography so early in his career, expecially considering that he hasn't found success in the music industry.
I did not find his book to be inspiring, nor even mildly interesting. It definitely lacked substance, and I found it very hard to get past the first few lines, therefore I would not recommend it to anyone.

I have his book in audio and it was so very interesting I put in the 3 discs and listened to them all without taking a break. He had my complete and utter attention.
Taylor Hicks is very honest and candid in telling his life story from his sad childhood, thru school years, his struggling musician years, thru American Idol, all the way to now.
Taylor has paid his dues in life and in the music world and deserves everything "good" that has come to him.
As he speaks in the book, you get the complete feeling (and actual chills) from his soul on how much music means to him and how much of an inspiration his favorite artists have meant, (and continue to) mean to him. Music got him thru and has made him the talented man he is today.
He is truly unique, and more talented and appreciative of music than most.
Taylor also is kindhearted, honest, and thankful for all that has come to him.
I HIGHLY recommend this book if you are a Taylor fan or not. For even if you love music (like Taylor and myself) his book is a true "Heart and Soul" of inspiration.
