Book Reviews of Heart and SoulBook Review: Heart and Soul by Maeve Binchy Summary: 5 Stars
Another great read from Maeve Binchy, filled with love, compassion, suspence, and yes, even intrigue, set in a heart clinic in today's Ireland. When Dr. Clara Casey is offered the job of establishing the underfunded clinic she almost turns it down since she has enough on her plate as it is, namely an ex-husband who won't leave her alone, and two recalcitrant daughters who won't grow up.
But reluctantly she accepts the challenge and to her surprise both she and the cliic survive and prosper, due in great part to a devoted cast of characters who help her meet the demands of their often difficult patients with both humor and understanding. One can't help being touched by sweet Ania, the little Polish girl, whose heart was broen by a cad but finds love again, or cheer the romance of nice Dr. Declan and the beautirul Fiona, or laugh at the antics of the fantastically talented twins, Maud and Simon, who not only cook but finish each other's sentences. These are just a few of the marvelously diverse characters who people this enchanting book and make you laugh, cry, and care. Maeve Binch at her best.
Book Review: Heart and Soul by Maeve Binchy Summary: 3 Stars
If you like Maeve Binchy you'll like this book. Probably not one of her best but a good summer read. You always know that everything will turn out alright in the end which is comforting.
Book Review: Heart and Soul is another wonderful work from Maeve Binchy. Summary: 4 Stars
Heart and Soul is another of Ms. Binchy's books and I have read all of them over the years. Am a lover of Ireland, so I read her's as they
are so typical of the country. This one seems to show off the best of
Maeve as she tells the story of Dr. Clara Casey....I have really just
begun to read it and already it is hard to put down!! Give it a shot,
guaranteed to buy more of her's....Try Bell, Book and Candle...it is a
great one!!
Book Review: I love Binchy but... Summary: 2 Stars
I am soooo very tired of the same cast of characters having to be tied into every single story. I hated the twins since their 'debut' in Scarlet Feather and they just can't seem to go away. Like with Brenda and Patrick Brennan,Tom and Cathy Scarlet and others.I LOVE Maeve Binchy and am a devoted follower but it seems like she has run out of steam, characters and stories! This book was only ok for me. She needs to get back to the amazing form she had with 'Light a Penny Candle','The Copper Beech', 'The Glass Lake' and even 'Circle of Friends'. Seriously Ms Binchy, your loyal readers implore you!
Book Review: I'm never disappointed with Maeve Binchy Summary: 5 Stars
I have missed the last few Maeve Binchy books and just had to get this one. I have been reading her books since Circle of Friends and there is not one yet that I haven't loved.
As always, Heart and Soul is filled with wonderful characters that soon seem like real people and friends and you just can't wait to turn the page and see what happens in their lives. This one is set in Dublin and is set around a doctor, Clara Casey, and the heart clinic where she practices. Two grown daughters, an ex-husband, staff, patients and the Irish community they are in. Overall, it adds up to another wonderful read from Maeve Binchy.
