Book Review: A sweet introduction to what life will be like as a big brother

This is a sweet book that shows a loving family's journey from being a family of three to a family of four. Rather than highlighting the "negatives" of a new sibling coming (as I've found some books seem to), it pleasantly illustrates one boy's journey to becoming a big brother, and gives a nice glimpse into how the baby grows inside his Mommy through various stages of her pregnancy (even showing what Baby looks like inside her uterus with an umbilical chord), and then what it's like to have a baby at home. This is also one of the very few books I've found that I really like that introduce nursing rather than formula feeding; it's very tastefully done.
If you're curious what all is introduced in this book, here you go: He feels baby kick, visits the doctor w/ Mom & hears the heartbeat, helps Mom and Dad unpack baby clothes, Grannie comes to stay with him while Mom and Dad go to the hospital, He gets to hold Baby sister, Mom nurses her, he helps Dad give Baby a sponge bath and it refers to the umbilical chord scab that will turn into a belly button, and he even helps her to stop crying by playing a musical toy for her.
We particularly like this book, as well as What Baby Needs (Sears Children Library) for preparing for the arrival a new sibling.

This book is something that my kids still enjoy, even with no more babies on the way. It really helped explain a pregnancy, without being too graphic or boring. I loved reading this book to my son and pointing out how big his sister was, compared to the pictures at different stages of pregnancy. The book also does an excellent job acknowledging what the child is experiencing, from going through baby clothes he once wore to grandma pulling out the pictures of him growing up.
I purchased several books during my 2nd pregnancy dealing with this subject and it's the only one worth reading over and over. Definitely a must have book if you have a baby sibling on the way.

Out of all of the books I looked at, this was by far my favorite. It explained the pregnancy and birth of a new baby so well! I highly recommend this for any parent expecting a second (or more!) child! My daughter still loves to read it!Book Review: Fabulous Book!!!

This was the best book of the 5 or so I purchased to explain to my 2.5 year old that we were having a new baby come to our house and what was happening in mommy's belly. She loved the part about the Grandma since that is what we explained was happening at our house and the pictures really illustrated well the exciting developments. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
